Gifty Oware-Mensah, has been charged on multiple counts of stealing, money laundering, causing financial loss to the State and abuse of public office. 

Former Deputy Executive Director of the National Service Secretariat, Gifty Oware-Mensah, has been charged on multiple counts of stealing, money laundering, causing financial loss to the State and abuse of public office.

The Attorney General’s Department stated that she misused GHs38,458,248.87 between February 2022 and March 2024 while she was in charge of Finance, audit and procurement of NSA products.

Reports indicate that the accused allegedly founded a company with her spouse acting as a representative on the board of directors. The organization is referred to as Blocks of Life Consult, from which she secured a loan amounting to Ghs 31.5 million from ADB, employing the identities of National Service Personnel as collateral.

Peter Mensah, a lawyer, acted as a representative for the company, serving in this capacity as her spouse. Dr. Ayine indicated that she communicated to ADB that the company focuses on supplying home appliances to National Service personnel under a hire-purchase arrangement, with repayments managed through deductions implemented by the NSS.

Investigations revealed that no such goods were distributed, and the names utilized to secure the loan were fabricated identities generated from the NSA internal system.

Also, the funds which were supposed to be deducted from 9,934 National Service Personnel — all of whom were later discovered to be fictitious.

Furthermore, the funds intended to be deducted from 9,934 National Service Personnel were later found to be fake names.
