Government has charged former Executive Director of the National Service Authority, Osei Assibey Antwi, with regards to an alleged Ghs600m corruption scandal.

The accused has been charged with 14 criminal offenses by the Attorney General’s Department, including money laundering, stealing, causing financial loss to the state.

The charge sheet submitted to the High Court in Accra indicates that the former NSA boss is alleged to have authorized payments to more than 60,000 fictitious national service personnel and to have misappropriated public funds during his term from August 2021 to February 2025.

Prosecutors assert that the former NSA head intentionally inflicted a financial loss of GH¢500,861,744.02.

Also, the charge sheet accuses Mr. Assibey Antwi of unauthorized withdrawals from the Kumawu Farm Project account, totaling GH¢74 million, alleging they were not used for their intended purpose. Antwi faces charges of withdrawing GH¢55 million in September 2022, GH¢15 million in October 2023, and GH¢4 million in January 2024, all without using the funds for the project. The case is set to be examined at the Accra High Court.
