Mankranso Senior High School defied all odds and showed Ghana National College and St Thomas Aquinas SHS the exit in today’s quarterfinals contest of the National Science and Maths Quiz.

All the three started the 1st round on a good note with Ghana National College taking the lead with 14 points while St Thomas Aquinas SHS followed with ten points. Mankranso SHS could not impress that much and had to enter the 2nd round with 8 points.

The atmosphere became tense in the second round of the competition. Many questions were answered wrongly and at the end of round 2, all the 3 schools were on the same page with 10 points each. National College lost 4 points while St Thomas Aquinas maintained their points. However, Mankranso SHS managed to add 2 points to theirs putting all three schools on the same playing ground.

A Biology question posed in the third round to test the critical thinking ability of the contestants saw them partially answering them rightly. Each school earned 6 points respectively.

Ghana National College, determined to prove a point, managed to lead in the True/False round by answering all questions correctly but got one wrong. They had the highest score in the 4th round with 29 points while Mankranso SHS kept building their momentum with 26 points. St Thomas Aquinas boys were trailing with 23 points.

The GOIL Super Bonanza Round started with St Thomas Aquinas taking charge with the 1st riddle. However, Mankranso SHS, unperturbed by the showmanship from the all-boys school, remained resolute and took their own destinies into their hands by getting the next two riddles correctly.

None of the three schools were able to solve the final riddle, and when the Quiz Mistress rang the bell, it marked a pivotal and exhilarating moment for Mankranso SHS as they reversed the situation and took the lead with 32 points.

It was a turning point in the school’s NSMQ journey and a victory that had been building for years. They achieved a well-earned spot in the Semi-final Stage for the first time because to their perseverance, cooperation, and dedication.
