
A statement from the Presidency has revealed that the state funeral for the late former First Lady, Mrs Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, will take place on Friday November 28.
The venue for the ceremony will be at the Independence Square.
The ceremony, which will be hosted under the directives of John Dramani Mahama, president of the Republic, seeks to commemorate the late First Lady, known for her advocacy in women’s rights and community empowerment throughout Ghana.
A statement from the President’s Spokesperson, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, announced that the funeral rites will celebrate Mrs. Agyeman-Rawlings for her service to the nation.
She served as the First Lady of Ghana from 1981 to 2001. She is the founder and leader of the National Democratic Party (NDP) which was founded in October 2012 as a split from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) which according to reports, the reason being that the NDC party is diverting from the ideologies of which it was established
