
The Head Coach of the Nigerian Senior National side,Éric Sékou Chelle, has attributed his team’s defeat in the penalty shootout to voodoo.
In a brief interview after the match, he accused the players and technical staff of DR Congo of spraying a water-like substance on the pitch during the penalty shootout
“Throughout the penalty kick-off, the one guy from Congo performed some voodoo. I was apprehensive following him for this reason. I am uncertain whether it was water.”
Nigeria’s hope for the 2026 World Cup came to a heartbreaking end as they fell to DR Congo in a nail-biting penalty shootout, losing 3-4 during the playoffs held in Morocco.
