A 35-year-old spiritualist was given a three-year jail term for scamming a man of GHs95,100 by promising to secure the victim a chieftaincy title. Nana Adwoa Yamoah was convicted by the Accra Circuit Court.
The court also determined that she was guilty of operating without affiliation to any legally recognized association and practicing without a license, following her guilty plea to all charges.
Per reports, Abu Douglas, the victim, an unemployed resident of Ntroso in the Ashanti Region, was introduced to Yamoah by a witness, Grace Fosu, in 2025.
Yamoah claimed to have serious ties with the Asantehene and could recommend him to be enstooled as chief of Ntroso.
Based on such claims, Abu was made to pay huge sums of money to Yamoah with the assurance of becoming a chief of Ntroso. Abu also paid a whopping Ghs51,000 to Yamoah for doubling, which failed.
Assistant Superintendent of Police Augustine Kingsley Oppong, who is prosecuting the case, informed the court that Abu began to suspect foul play and asked Yamoah for his money, which she failed to pay.
Abu made an official complaint to the police on March 9, 2026, which led to Yamoah’s arrest. The suspect pleaded for time to gather the money and pay Abu back but failed to fulfill her promise.
