Lawyer for Groupe Ndoum, Cletus Alengah, has decisively dismissed claims that political pledges or statements made in the run-up to the 2024 polls played a role in the resolution of the GN Savings and Loans legal dispute.
His remarks come in response to widespread speculation that the decision of the Court of Appeal may be in line with prior political commitments made ahead of the elections.
He maintains that the issue was purely judicial from the onset of the legal procedure to the end.
“I don’t believe we can, in any conceivable way, connect it to any promises made prior to or following the elections,” he remarked on JoyNews’ Newsfile.
He emphasized that the case originated in 2019 and progressed through comprehensive legal procedures until the Court of Appeal issued its ruling.
He argued that the Court’s directive for the Bank of Ghana to reinstate the license and return assets should be seen as a legal rectification rather than a political obligation.
