At least 12 people have been confirmed dead while two others are in critical condition after a head-on collision between two vehicles happened at Nkenkensu in the Offinso North District of Ashanti Region.
The incident which occurred on Tuesday involved a commercial passenger vehicle traveling from Kumasi to Techiman and a trailer which was from Techiman to Kumasi.
An eyewitness account revealed that the minibus attempted to overtake another vehicle, leading it to veer into the lane of a trailer traveling at high speed.
Health professionals at theNkenkensu Government Hospital confirmed that 12 people were pronounced dead upon arrival at the facility while two people are in a bad state receiving medical attention.
The remains of the deceased have been sent to the Nkenkensu Government Hospital Morgue, awaiting identification and preservation.
Meanwhile, the police have launched investigations into the incident.
