Member of Parliament for South Dayi, Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor, has revealed that Akyem North MP, Ohene Kwame Frimpong, is still in detention in the Netherlands.
According to him, lawyers of the legislator are working around the clock to secure him bail.
Speaking on Accra-based JoyNews, Dafeamekpor indicated that legal procedures are currently in progress, awaiting a court hearing.
“The lawyers have successfully submitted a bail application today, and we are hopeful that a hearing will be scheduled within the week,” he stated.
He stressed that Parliament has provided the needed support for the embattled MP since his arrest became public.
Dafeamekpor also said that the Ghanaian ambassador in The Hague and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs have been coordinating closely to guarantee that the lawmaker receives enough diplomatic and legal backing.
“Our ambassador and the foreign minister have worked together to ensure that he receives all the support he needs to defend himself competently,” he said.
