The appointment of Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena by the Church in accordance with their constitution has been validated by Nana Kofi Kantanka, a lawyer representing the Kristo Asafo community.

He observed that the church’s constitution mandates the elders to choose one of the sons of the late Apostle Emeritus Kwadwo Safo Kantanka to head the Movement.

He said that after months of intensive spiritual preparation, the Church leadership subsequently presented the new leader, Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena, before the General Council.

Kantanka indicated that the former Dome-Kwabenya MP, Sarah Adwoa Safo, is not a member and had no influence on the selection of the leader of the Kristo Asafo Movement.

An eyewitness account revealed that the former lawmaker came to the residence of Akofena after he had been installed and requested entry  but was denied.

This made her rammed her vehicle into the gate leaving one angle of the gate hanging and hurting one of the bodyguards of Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena.

It led to a confrontation between the bodyguards and Adwoa Safo. The bodyguards threatened to shoot her aiming their firearms at her in a video sighted by smartandstuck.

Shortly thereafter, warning shots were fired, reportedly grazing her neck.
