Member of Parliament for Gomoa Central, Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as Kwame A Plus has petitioned the Speaker of Parliament to remove Hon. Abena Osei Asare as Chairperson of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC).
A Plus noted in a formal statement which this news portal has sighted on social media that his appeal stemmed from a necessity to uphold the integrity and dignity of Parliament.
A Plus could hardly believe that Abena Osei Asare is presiding over a committee addressing matters that transpired during her time as Deputy Minister.
The legislator remarked that the PAC Chairperson supervised serious rot under the erstwhile Akufo-Addo government and that she has no moral right to question newly appointed government officials of crimes committed by the previous administration.
He also explained that the public support by the PAC Chairperson for the former Commissioner-General of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) regarding his age disclosure, prompts significant questions of her dedication towards accountability and transparency.
“Furthermore, her public defense of the Commissioner-General of the Ghana Revenue Authority, Rev, Ammishaddai Owusu-Amoah, when he refused to disclose his age, raises serious doubts about her commitment to transparency and accountability”, portion of the statement emphasized.
