
President John Dramani Mahama has conveyed his deep condolences regarding the unfortunate loss of six young women at the El-Wak Stadium in Accra today November 12, as the Ghana Armed Forces begins its nationwide recruitment exercise.
Speaking at the Nkoko Nkitinkiti Poultry Initiative, he voiced his concerns following the tragic incident, noting that the individuals who lost their lives were all females and had gone to there with the hope serving their nation, only to have their lives tragically cut short.
President Maham has urged a comprehensive examination of the factors that contributed to the sad development, highlighting the necessity for enhanced safety protocols during public gathering.
A tragic stampede took place on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, as a large number of job seekers gathered at the El-Wak Sports Stadium for a recruitment exercise conducted by the Ghana Armed Forces.
The Ghana Armed Forces has confirmed a total of six fatalities, alongside numerous individuals who have sustained injuries and are currently undergoing treatment at the 37 Military Hospital.
The recruitment exercise has been paused for the moment to enable investigations to proceed.
