Finance Minister and Member of Parliament for Ajumako Enyan Esiam, Cassiel Ato Forson, has stated that the Big Push initiative introduced by the government is expected to create about 490,000 jobs for the Ghanaian youth.

During the 2026 Budget Statement to Parliament, he cited the World Bank’s prediction on job creation from road projects as inline with government’s commitment to providing jobs for the teeming youth.

He noted that the 2026 Budget is actually going to create about 800,000 new jobs.

Dr. Forson said that the government’s premier infrastructure and industrial initiatives will act as essential catalysts for job creation.

He indicated that three new garment factories, integral to the government’s industrialization initiative, would provide 20,000 direct employment opportunities.

Seven new agro-processing facilities are anticipated to provide 700 direct employment opportunities and several indirect jobs.

Between 2026 and 2032, the National Policy on Integrated Oil Palm Development would create around 250,000 employment in the oil palm value chain, according to the Finance Minister. Also, thousands of people will find work operating, maintaining, and providing logistical assistance at the many Farmer Service Centres that are springing up across the nation.

The Minister emphasized the importance of the private sector as a vital driver of job creation, announcing a significant recapitalization of the National Investment Bank (NIB).

Additionally, plans are in place to inject GH¢1 billion into the Agricultural Development Bank (ADB) and Consolidated Bank Ghana (CBG) before the close of 2025.

He emphasized that GH¢401 million has been set aside for the Women’s Development Bank, aimed at offering spft loans to small businesses and entrepreneurs, with a special focus on traders who are specifically women and market operators.
