President John Dramani Mahama has revealed that contractors who were asked to halt operations on our major roads will soon resume work following a comprehensive evaluation of their contracts by the Auditor General to rectify any improper contractual agreement.

The president stated that contractors responsible for developing the roads nationwide will soon return to locations to finalize necessary projects to get our roads usable again.

President Mahama underscored the significance of his government’s agenda in promoting infrastructural development during his Thank You Tour of the Eastern Region on July 20. He identified the construction of good roads as a component of his administration’s aspirations.

‘The Auditor-General has submitted his report. We will make the contractors return to their various locations”, he said.

He further added that, contractors who were paid from both the Road Fund and the Ministry of Finance under the erstwhile Akufo-Addo’s administration would be punished to serve as a deterrent to others who might want to engage in the same act.

“However, those who received double payment will be penalized,” he asserted.
