The man seen in a viral video beating his wife with pipes has been remanded into police as he is set to reappear before the Magistrate Court at the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) on December 3.
According to a statement by the Police, the said individual identified as, John Odartey Lamptey, has been charged with physical assault in violation of Sections 1(b)(i) and 3(2) of the Domestic Violence Act, 2007 (Act 732).
Also, Odartey Lamptey’s two siblings were also charged for trying to physically assault a female they believed recorded the scene and shared it online.
However, the Police have not yet been able to find the victim, who, as stated in our previous report, was missing at the time of the accused’s arrest.
The Ghana Police Service is by the statement requesting for valuable information that can lead to the whereabouts of the victim or anybody possessing relevant details to report to the nearest police station.
