
Ghana’s Former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings has been pronounced dead accroding to reports.
As the spouse of former President Jerry John Rawlings, she contributed to Ghana’s political discourse .
She passed away at the Ridge hospital in Accra on Thursday October 23, 2025. She died at age 76 years.
She has been lauded as an advocate for women’s rights and the empowerment of communities across Ghana. She formed the 31sr December Women’s Movement (DWM) in 1982 to help address the concerns of women and fight for equitable opportunities for those enduring inhumane treatment.
Information regarding circumstances leading to her death remains sketchy as her family and hospital authorities are yet to break the news to the public.
She served as the First Lady of Ghana from 1981 to 2001. She is the founder and leader of the National Democratic Party (NDP) which was founded in October 2012 as a split from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) which according to reports, the reason being that the NDC party is diverting from the ideologies of which it was established.
