Former Deputy Executive Director of the National Service Authority (NSA), Gifty Oware-Mensah, entered a plea of not guilty in response to all charges leveled against her when she appeared at the Accra High Court on Wednesday, October 22.

Former Deputy Executive Director of the National Service Authority (NSA), Gifty Oware-Mensah, entered a plea of not guilty in response to all charges leveled against her when she appeared at the Accra High Court on Wednesday, October 22.

She has been charged on multiple counts of stealing, money laundering, causing financial loss to the State and abuse of public office.

The Attorney General’s Department has stated that she misused GHs38,458,248.87 between February 2022 and March 2024 while she was in charge of Finance, audit and procurement of NSA products.

Gifty Oware is alleged to have created approximately 9,934 fictitious national service personnel and to have benefited financially from the allowances associated with these nonexistent individuals.

The court granted her bail of GHC10 million with three sureties after Gifty Oware’s lawyer, Nanabayin Ackon, submitted bail application

Also, the court directed that she provide her traveling documents including her passports to the court registry and avail herself to the police on the first Tuesday and every Thursday of the month.
