Chorkor-based boxer, Ernest Akushey, popularly known as Bahubali, has reportedly died.
He passed away just two weeks after a devastating loss at the hands of his opponent in the Bukom Boxing Arena in the highly contested super middleweight showdown.
Akushey became a laughing stalk in the ring from the start of the match. The sensational boxer suffered a damaging defeat to Jacob “The Beast” Dickson by a Technical Knockout (TKO) in the 8th round.
According to James Town TV and Africabox Showup, Bahubali tragically passed away in the early hours of Tuesday September 23 after falling ill on Monday September 22, 2025.
Akushey, who worked his way up through the ranks at the Wadada Gym in James Town, had previously been an unbeaten prospect and had a record of six wins, zero losses, and zero defeat.
Information gathered so far from reliable sources indicate the cause of Bahubali’s death may be tied to internal injuries incurred during the Dickson bout. However there has not been any official autopsy report released.
