
The Ghana Gold Board, in collaboration with National Security, has arrested three Indian nationals who attempted to smuggle Gold out of the country.
This increases the total count of foreigners apprehended in the crackdown on illicit gold trade to six.
The suspects were arrested at Enyinam in the Eastern region.
Items found when they were arrested include Gold bars, counting machines and thousands of Ghana cedis.
On May 14th, the media relations officer for Ghana’s Gold Board, Prince Minkah, addressed the public on the three foreignerss who have been arested. According to him, the three suspects will face the laws of Ghana.
This latest development comes after Ghana’s Gold Board directive prohibiting foreign participation in the country’s gold trading industry.
