The Human Rights Court has today June 18 dismissed an application filed by former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta against the Office of the Special Prosecutor to stop the OSP from declaring a fugitive from justice.

The court also slapped Ofori-Atta with a cost of GHC 5,000.

In his ruling, Justice Amoako disclosed that Mr. Ofori-Atta failed to satisfy the conditions of his injunction.

The minister’s legal representatives filed a motion on March 27 at the High Court, requesting the OSP to remove Mr. Ofori-Atta from the wanted list.

They accused that the Special Prosecutor abused his adminsitrative powers by intentionally altering evidence and bypassing judicial procedures. Also the use of pictures of the former minister on the offical social media pages of the OSP according to Mr. Ofori-Atta is an,infringement on his human rights since he has not formally been charged.

The motion additionally requested a court injunction to prevent any future dissemination of such designations without judicial consent, asserting that the ongoing exhibition of his name brought public shame to the former finance minister.
