Investigative journalist Manasseh Azure Awuni has revealed the specific location and circumstances surrounding the arrest of Ghana’s former finance minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in the United States.

According to the prolific writer, Mr Ofori-Atta was arrested in Washington D.C. And it was on the morning of January 6,2026.

He said that, in contrast to the swoops and raids executed by ICE personnel at industries and public locations, the former minister’s arrest was a targeted operation.

Manasseh noted that ICE authorities apprehended Ofori-Atta as he emerged from an elegant building where he had resided since leaving Ghana for the US, subsequently transferring him to a detention center located 89 miles away.

Manasseh further claimed the exact location where the declared fugitive of Ghana was apprehended.

“Mr. Ofori-Atta was arrested at the entrance of the Westlight apartment complex in Washington, D.C. The Westlight building is located at 1111 24th Street NW, Washington, D.C.”, he said in a Facebook post.

Mr. Ofori Atta is expected to appear in court on January 20 in the United States with regard to his arrest.

Based on a credible source of information Manasseh claimed he is privy to, Ken Ofori-Atta planned not to return to the country to face prosecution because he is aware the Special Prosecutor is after him and would take advantage of the situation to humiliate and abuse him.
