Ghanaian goalkeeper Richard Ofori has expressed his desire to be part of the final squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

According to him, he is much aware of certain things he needs to do to secure a return to the Black Stars in preparation for the most prestigious tournament.

The 31-year-old has not participated for Ghana since the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, which took place in early 2024 in Ivory Coast. A significant mistake during the 2-2 draw with Mozambique played a role in the Black Stars’ exit from the tournament. Since that time, Ofori has not been included in the national team.

Currently playing for AmaZulu FC in South Africa after joining as a free agent in September 2024, Ofori emphasized his commitment to working diligently for his club and allowing his performances to convey his value.

In an interview with iDiski Times, he said: “I am diligently contributing to my team’s efforts in the league, after which other factors will come into play. I have not recently communicated with coach Otto Addo; however, he previously contacted me. He is a commendable individual who monitors the well-being of his players.”

Ofori, a former first-choice goalkeeper for Ghana, stated that he comprehends the requirements for rejoining the squad. He explained that his current focus is on his club which to him will pave the way for him to be called into the Black Stars team.

Ofori debuted for the Ghana national team in 2015.
