Former Assin Central Member of Parliament, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, has issued a strong warning to members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), insisting he will not be intimidated or silenced over his recent comments on governance, accountability, and unfinished public projects.
His remarks come amid growing internal tensions within the party following his criticism of the NPP government’s handling of key infrastructure projects, including the Afari Military Hospital.
Kennedy Agyapong Criticizes Afari Military Hospital Project
Kennedy Agyapong has expressed disappointment over the stalled Afari Military Hospital project, which was intended to serve both military personnel and civilians. According to him, the project represents a missed opportunity to strengthen Ghana’s healthcare system.
He questioned why the facility, despite significant investment, was not fully completed and operational during the NPP’s eight years in government.
His comments have triggered backlash from some party members, who have accused him of being overly critical of his own party.
“They Can’t Shut Me Down” – Agyapong Fires Back
Speaking on Net 2 TV, the former presidential aspirant dismissed claims that his comments are driven by bitterness or personal grievances.
He insisted that his concerns are rooted in national interest and a desire for accountability rather than partisan politics.
“The NPP says I am bitter. I will not say anything to them. They think it is about what they did during the campaign. They can’t shut me down,” he said.
He further challenged authorities to account for major government initiatives, including the Agenda 111 hospital project, questioning how many facilities were fully completed and operational.
According to him, some contracts were allegedly sold to private individuals with claims of kickbacks, though these remain allegations he raised publicly.
“If They Provoke Me, I Will Spill the Beans”
Kennedy Agyapong issued a stern warning to party critics, suggesting he could reveal further information if pushed.
“NPP should be careful with me, saying I am bitter. If they provoke me, I will spill the beans all over the place,” he cautioned.
His comments have sparked widespread debate within political circles, with supporters praising his openness while critics accuse him of undermining party unity.
Allegations Extend Beyond One Political Party
Agyapong also claimed that issues of alleged corruption and contract irregularities are not limited to the NPP.
He alleged that similar practices exist within other political administrations, including the National Democratic Congress (NDC), though these claims remain unverified.
“In the NDC, too, I was there when somebody brought a contract to my wife worth 55 million dollars. She was asked to pay an advance of 7 per cent before they would give it to her,” he alleged.
Calls for Accountability in Ghana’s Governance
The outspoken politician maintained that corruption remains a deep-rooted challenge in Ghana’s political system, urging greater transparency in public procurement and contract execution.
He emphasized that he will continue speaking out on governance issues, insisting that silence should not be an option when national development is at stake.
As tensions rise within the NPP, Kennedy Agyapong’s comments are expected to fuel further political debate in the coming days.
