Government has officially changed the name of Kotoka International Airport to Accra International Airport following an extensive and intense discussion regarding the name change that lasted several weeks.
According to the Ministry of Transport, the change of name has become necessary because the government finds it appropriate to restore the name of the facility to its originally recognised name, ‘Accra International Airport’.
The Ministry’s statement confidently assured that the name change will not affect the facility’s operations, including safety standards and international travel arrangements.
The process will facilitate the prompt updating of official documents, statutory instruments including airport signage, digital platforms, aviation publications, and associated communication materials.
The government has urged the general public, including locals and foreign partners, to engage the relevant authorities to make sure the change becomes a success.
