A woman has reportedly been murdered by her boyfriend at Chinese Down in the Ga South Municipality of the Greater Accra Region.
Mabel Asante, a seamstress lived with her boyfriend before the unfortunate incident happened.
Reports suggest that Sammy, a 29-year-old carpenter murdered Mabel for threatening to jilt him.
After realizing the gravity of his action, Sammy reportedly ingested a poisonous substance in an attempt to take his own life but later took in Palm oil to neutralize the poison.
According to a neighbour, the suspect later called for help prompting residents to break into the room where they found Mabel lying in a pool of blood while the suspect struggled on the bed.
The suspect, according to reports, is an ex-convict who was abandoned his family after his release.
Sammy is believed to have been homeless when he was released by the police until Mabel who neighbours say may have had a broken heart took him in.
Less than three months into the relationship, Mabel decided to break up with Sammy which did not excite him.
Sammy is currently receiving treatment at the Amanfrom Polyclinic under police guard while investigations are being carried out.
