
In a competitive contest at the One-eighth Stage, Abetifi Presby Senior High School had a total of 54 points to emerge victorious.
The Central Regional Champions has unfortunately lost their seeded position and will begin their journey from the preliminaries next year.
Wesley Girls’ High School started on a good note after getting all the general questions answered correctly in the 1st round of the competition earning them 27 points while Kumasi Sec. Tech. and Abetifi Presby SHS trailed behind with 16 and 15 points, respectively.
At the end of round two, Abetifi Presby SHS had inched a bit closer to Wesley Girls with 28 points while Kumasi Sec. Tech. struggled to find their feet with 18 points.
In the 3rd round, both Kumasi Sec. Tech. and Abetifi Presby SHS scored 10 points while Wesley Girls missed a point and secured 9 points.
The Fourth round was a game-changing moment for Abetifi Presby where they capitalized on their substitute Ishmael who came in for Gilbert to turn things around. They were able to answer 7 out of 8 questions giving them an upper hand in the contest with 51 points while Wesley Girls and Kumasi Sec. Tech. had 46 and 41 points respectively.
Wesley Girls got the 1st riddle right in the fifth round drawing applause from their supporters while the 2nd riddle went unanswered. Abetifi Presby Senior High silenced the Cape Coast–based all-girls’ by answering correctly the 3rd riddle making them topped with 54 points. At the end of the competition, Wesley Girls had 49 points whilst Kumasi Sec. Tech. managed 41 points.
The Kwahu-based school gained a spot in the quarterfinals with their sterling performance earning them a name and a seeded status.
