
Aburi Girls Senior High School (SHS) achieved a notable victory in the one-eight contest, becoming the 1st female institution to advance to the quarterfinals stage of this year’s National Science and Maths Quiz.
Judith and Juliet showed tremendous level of brilliance throughout the competition, defeating both Apam SHS (a seeded school) and Konogo Odumase SHS.
The 1st round came to an end with an impressive performance from all the three schools. Both Apam SHS and Konogo Odumase SHS had 24 points with Aburi Girls trailing behind with 23 points.
Apam SHS led the second round of the Trustur AI Speed Race with 30 points, while Konongo Odumase SHS finished with 29 points. Aburi Girls SHS was still finding their feet and could not put up a solid display, contributing just a point to their total.
All the three schools scored 10 out of 10 points in the round, securing each school 2,400 GH, the Prudential Life Insurance NSMQ Star Award.
The True/False round changed the fortunes of Aburi Girls after getting all eight questions correctly, their total score jumped to 50. Apam SHS who was leading failed to impress in this round as they scored 46 points. Konogo Odumase SHS had 44 points.
In the all girls school commanded 6 points after answering two riddles right, putting them in a comfortable lead with 56 points . The remaining riddles went unanswered.
The crowd exploded in excitement when the last buzzer rang. Aburi Girls’ SHS has earned a spot in the quarterfinals and has also claimed the seeded position from Apam SHS.
