Asantehene Otumfuor Osei Tutu II formally launched the Despite Automobile Museum in East Legon, Accra, on Sunday, June 1st, which is basically meant to exhibit some of the most iconic and classic vehicles ever produced.
Commissioned by Ghanaian entrepreneur and media tycoon Osei Kwame Despite, the Museum was established due to his passion for automobiles. It showcases a remarkable collection of antique and luxury automobiles, designed for both leisure and educational objectives.
The museum is located at the same building formerly known as Lizzy Complex. The museum has a collection of automobiles that is rare in our modern era.
luxury Mercedes-Benz models, Jaguars, Classic Bugattis, a Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith LWB, several Bentleys, are among the vintage vehicles housed within the complex.
The museum’s goal is to provide the general public and auto enthusiasts with a comprehensive experience of the evolution of automobiles, from their earliest forms to contemporary sophisticated designs.
Museum officials stated that the concept sprang from Mr. Despite’s enduring fascination in autos. A private passion has evolved into a public institution, providing a unique insight into the personal collection of one of Ghana’s most prominent businessmen.
