The Ghana Police Service's Ashanti North Regional Police Command, has arrested a prophetess and her accomplice for the murder of Eric Obeng Darko, the former Headmaster of Dampong Senior High School (SHS).

The Ghana Police Service’s Ashanti North Regional Police Command, has arrested a prophetess and her accomplice for the murder of Eric Obeng Darko, the former Headmaster of Dampong Senior High School (SHS).

The two suspects Mubarak Mohammed 38 and Elizabeth Darkwah 48 were apprehended on June 9 and 17 respectively, according to a statement from the Police.

The two have since been arraigned before the district courts in Kodie and Suame and have been remanded into police custody for further investigations.

According to the statement signed by Emmanuel Agbodzi, Assistant Superintendent of Police and Acting Regional Affairs Director for the Ashanti North, the suspect, Elizabeth Darkwah, lured the deceased and took an unspecified amount of money from the late Darko with the promise of uncovering an ancient family gold. The fraudulent enterprise was initiated in 2024.

The suspect in the company of Mubarak Mohammed went to Mr. Darko’s residence in the middle of the night and dug up 20 pieces of a yellowish substance claiming white was gold and needed to be sanctified before it could be used or sold.

However, the prophetess made a conscious effort to avoid Mr. Darko’s attempts for them to meet for the intended rituals to be made. She later sought the services of Mubarak Mohammed and 3 others who are currently on the run to kidnap the Mr. Darko and kill him.

According to investigations conducted by the police, the deceased was taken to Aboabugya. He attempted to flee but was struck and run over by Mubarak Mohammed, resulting in his death.

The two have been placed in police custody and are scheduled to reappear in court on July 4, while attempts are ongoing to apprehend the three individuals who are currently on the run.
