President John Dramani Mahama has canceled fuel allowances and allocations for all political appointees with immediate effect in a statement dated July 15, 2025.

The statement which was issued by the Minister of Government Communications, Felix Ofosu Kwakye, indicated that the directive is to save cost and help redirect public funds into the right sectors.

President Mahama is of the view that the government also has a duty to make sacrifices in times where the people are putting in every effort to share in the vision of a better Ghana for all.

And as part of cost-cutting measures, the president has reduced the size of his ministers and also stopped satellite TV subscriptions for offices at the presidency and government facilities.
