The Minister of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George, has threatened to halt the operation of DSTV’s MultiChoice Ghana.
His comments come after the company released a statement indicating that it has no intention of reducing its DSTV subscription fees despite ongoing negotiations behind closed doors.
In a statement on Friday, September 5, 2025, the MultiChoice Ghana indicated its commitment to dialogue; however, no decision has been reached about the reduction of rates.
The brief clarification from the Digital Satellite Television was in response to an earlier statement from the Minister expressing optimism of a reduction in DSTV prices after a five-member committee involving representatives from the ministry, the regulator (NCA), MultiChoice Ghana, and MultiChoice Africa.
In a Facebook post on Friday, September 5, the minister asserted that MultiChoice had first expressed a readiness to discuss price issues with the government and had sought a postponement of enforcement measures. He observed that if the corporation has altered its stance, the government will be compelled to implement regulatory measures.
