The Tema Regional Police Command has confirmed the death of 3 armed robbers after an exchange of gunfire in the wee hours of July 21. The incident took place at the Tema Industrial Area.
According to a statement from thd Police, they were alerted through a phone call of an armed robbery attempt by a group of young men.
The Police responded to the distress call by deploying their patrol team to face-off with the robbers. Upon reaching the exact location, the well-equipped officers met the suspects and they engaged them through the exchange of gunfire.
Three of the robbers were shot in the process and were declared dead. However, some of the suspects who were presumed to have sustained significant injuries during the altercation, absconded but they are still being pursued by the law enforcement agency.
The bodies of the dead have been transferred to the morgue at the Police Hospital for identification and autopsy.
Items retrieved from the robbers include eleven live BB rounds, a locally made double-barreled handgun with two rounds of ammo, and a Bruni mod foreign pistol.
