Director of Operations for the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS), Colonel Dominic Buah, has assured Ghanaians that our forests and water bodies will return to their original states citing intense measures put in place to fight against the galamsey menace.
He made these comments during the President’s meeting with Civil Society Groups on the galamsey menace and measures put in place to curb such activities.
“Very soon our waters will turn blue and our forests will turn green”, he noted.
Colonel Buah emphasized that the NAIMOS will take decisive action against persons with the sole intent of destroying our natural vegetation.
“Mr. President, with your permission, I would like to send this warning to illegal miners, their assigns, and financiers. They are the first or prime enemies of the state, and they will be dealt with as such. There will be no room for them to escape or to hide. NAIMOS will smoke them out very soon; there is no resting place for them,” he stressed.
He revealed that about 400 troops have been deployed to galamsey-prone areas.
Colonel Buah in concluding his speech, sent a word of caution to galamseyers and their financiers to put a stop to their illegal activities as the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat will smoke all of them out of their hideouts.
