The woman who was captured in a viral video receiving serious beatings from her husband, John Odartey Lamptey, has finally come out to brief the public about how it all started.
In an interview with Naana Donkor Arthur monitoredby smartandstuck.com, the 32-year-old woman, who identified herself as Harriet Akua Amuzu, stated that she had officially reported similar incidents to the Teasano Police Station and the Ofankor Police Station, but her complaints were disregarded, allowing her husband to persist in his physical abuse towards her.
She revealed that the recent assault on her which went viral happens to be the fifth time Odarty Lamptey has physically assaulted her.
Akua Amuzu explained that the fourth incident occurred when her husband asked her to buy food, but she was delayed in returning home due to the long queue. Odartey Lamptey was deeply angered, accusing her of engaging in a sexual affair with her secret lover before coming home with the food.
She noted that her husband became physical with her and inserted pepper into her private part after which he slept with her as a form of punishment for a crime she never committed.

“He accused me of going to sleep with someone that’s why I got home late and for that he will teach me a lesson not knowing he was going to insert pepper into my private part after which he forcibly slept with me,” she said while crying.
Akua Amuzu mentioned that she picked the paper which was inserted and reported the matter at the Teasano Police station upon which her husband was summoned for questioning. She said that Odartey Lamptey came to the police station to deny all the charges she leveled against him. Since she has no family member around to prove the authenticity of the incident, her husband was left off the hook.
She stated that she has reported multiple instances of assault by Odarty Lamptey to the Ofankor Police Station, yet it appears the police do not take her situation seriously. Consequently, she feared that the recent incident, which gained widespread attention, would also be dismissed as trivial, prompting her to flee for her safety.

Harriet Akua Amuzu said during the interview with Naana Donkor Arthur that she was staying with her husband at Ofankor in the Ga Municipality of the Greater Accra Region but due to constant beatings, she relocated to live with her mother at Akim Oda.
Amuzu recounted how her husband called one day to complain that their children were sick. She disclosed that they have given birth two boys with one called kelvin and the other, Lawrence.
She became worried upon learning about the situation and felt compelled to visit them. However, upon returning to her husband’s house, she discovered that their kids were not sick as Odartey Lamptey had claimed, and she declined to be intimate with him when he asked, due to his dishonesty.
“Because he wanted to have sexual intercourse with me, he lied that my kids were sick. And so when I found out the truth, I also ignored him when he wanted to be intimate with me”.
Narrating what followed next, she said that Odartey Lamptey threatened to end her life and the following day he got physical with her by beating her to pulp after their kids went to school.
“After denying him sex, she threatened to kill me. The following day my husband didn’t even allow me to bath my kids. He did it himself and asked one of his children to take them to school. After they left, he locked all the gates and started beating him. But before he assaulted me, he tore my clothes and waist beads.”
She broke down into tears as she recounted the intense suffering and pains she endured on that fateful day when her husband went to retrieve a cutlass from a family member, who later took it back out of fear of being implicated in a crime he did not agree to.
“He went for a cutlass from his family memebr but he later came for it. And I bolted out of the bedroom to escape his wrath but he followed me outside while I was still naked and that was what the lady captured and it went viral.”
