The Central East Regional Police Command has apprehended a 35-year-old man who according to report, allegedly staged a robbery and kidnapping incident at Fijai a suburb of Millennium City, Gomoa Nyanyano.
Reports from the Police indicate that Benjamin Owusu on September 3, messaged a friend of an attack at his residence and his friend made a formal complaint to the police.
Following the complaint, police went to the purported crime scene, which was the home of suspect Benjamin Owusu, however he was not around. However, police discovered blood stains on the floor of his bedroom and took samples for forensic investigation but it later turned out to be negative for human blood.
Further investigations confirmed that Owusu had disposed of the SIM card used subsequently replacing it and made calls that were traced to Elubo in the Western Region on September 5.
Owusu confessed to faking the whole incident when he was arrested.
