Four (4) suspects according to police report, have been arrested following the gruesome murder of Akwamuhene, Nana Owusu Korkor, in the Bono East Region of Ghana.
The suspects include Issifu Addae, alias Akwasi Addae; Stephen Gyamfi; Augustine Arhinful; and Martha Mansah. Four other suspects have been named as persons of interest and are being pursued by the police.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the deceased was destooled as the Akwamuhene of Tanoso. Nana Akyeampong Duodu became his successor.
But, the deceased reportedly rejected the decision and engaged the family in multiple litigations and legal battles.
Nana Owusu Korkor further faced allegations of misappropriating five gold bars and selling off a family land to a developer after his removal.
The suspects, not happy with the actions of the deceased, proceeded to the disputed land and stopped the ongoing work by the developer and seized equipment belonging to the developer.
However, in the midst of the confrontation, the suspects issued a chilling warning to Nana Owusu Korkor, promising a lesson that would linger in his memory forever.
According to a statement signed by Chief Inspector Brigitte Babanawofour, the PRO of the CUD, the suspects are currently in police custody assisting investigations.
Meanwhile, police have intensified efforts to track down the remaining suspects to face the full rigours of the law.
