The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has announced in their earlier statement that applicants stationed in Accra will commence their exercise today, following an event at El-Wak Stadium that led to six deaths and a temporary halt of the recruitment process.

In response to the tragic stampede, President John Dramani Mahama directed the Ghana Armed Forces to suspend the ongoing process in order to reassess safety protocols and reform the screening system to avert future incidents.

The Ghana Armed Forces emphasized in an interview that they have implemented stringent measures to guarantee a safe and orderly exercise as they resume.

One of the most important initiatives is the establishment of five distinct screening centres designed to streamline the applicant process and alleviate crowd congestion.

Director of Public Affairs Unit at the GAF, Captain Veronica Adzo Arhin, said that the new effort would substantially decrease the daily number of applications to be examined, indicating that the figure of candidates to be examined for each day stands at 1,200.

She said that the screening procedure would last at least five days and will be executed in stages, beginning with the verification of candidate information and physical tests.
