The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has adjourned the case between the state and Kenneth Ofori-Atta and 7 others.

The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has adjourned the case between the state and Kenneth Ofori-Atta and 7 others.

According to a post by the OSP, the outfit a new date will be communicated. This means the earlier stated date which suppose to be November 24 for court sitting on the case has been canceled.

The OSP was supposed to arraign the former Finance Minister and 7 others after slapping the accused persons with 78 counts of corruption related offences.

According to a statement from the OSP on November18, it formally charged Kenneth Ofori-Atta alongside Ernest Darko Akore, Emmanuel Kofi Nti, Ammishaddai Owusu Amoah, Isaac Crentsil, Kwadwo Damoah, Evans Adusei, and Strategic Mobilisation Limited.

The OSP stated on November 20 that the office will pursue the case in court and seek service of charge sheet on the said persons who are not in Ghana.

Kenneth Ofori-Atta per the OSP statement, will be tried in absentia since he has not returned into the country after he flown out of the country to seek medical care.

The other accused include former senior officials of the Ministry of Finance and the Ghana Revenue Authority.

The court proceedings mark the first appearance for the accused since the charges were filed.
