The Chief Executive of the Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo) has been suspended after a fire outbreak at the Akosombo Power Control Centre.
The directive comes in the wake of recent criticisms from Ghanaians as the impact of the fire has resulted in erratic power supply in various parts of the country. Critical control systems have been impacted by the incident, which has caused Dumsor in certain areas of Ghana.
The Minister is confident that the decision for the GRIDCO CEO to step aside will facilitate an independent and thorough investigation into the incident and evaluate the extent of the damage.
Meanwhile, a significant reshuffle has taken place at the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) in the Ashanti Region, with a primary focus on enhancing operational efficiency and improving power distribution.
The Minister for Energy and Green Transition, John Abdulai Jinapor, is anticipated to convene a news conference on Monday, April 27. This is to address the persistent dumsor issue that has generated public concern and the current measures implemented by his sector to resolve the problem.
