
The Northern Regional Police Command has arrested three suspected kidnappers in Bokpaba , a remote village along the Bimbilla-Yendi route on Sunday December, 6.
According to a statement by the police, the operation became a success as the victim was rescued from the grip of the suspected kidnappers.
The accused persons identified as Haruna Seidu, Amidu Bandi, and Osman Bandi were believed to have kidnapped a 42-year-old-man and had demanded Ghc 100,000 ransom from his family.
“They demanded a ransom of GHc 100,000 from the victim’s family as a condition for his release,” the statement read in part.
Upon getting information about the incident, a five-team squad from the Regional Police Intelligence Directorate (RPID) was sent to Wapuli and they were able to overpower the kidnappers in a gun battle.
The victim was rescued and the culprits were apprehended and are currently assisting with investigations.
However, the fourth person absconded but sustained gunshot injuries with the police calling on Ghanaians to help with helpful information that can lead to his arrest.
