Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu has expressed his profound sadness after learning of the death of a level 200 female student at the University of Cape Coast (UCC), and has called for a thorough investigation into the circumstances of her passing.

Innocentia Avinu, a student of the University declared missing on June 11th and was last seen at the Ayensu Plaza hostel located in UCC campus.

Her family and friends sought public assistance in their efforts to find their cherished loved one. However, she was discovered deceased at the Hatchland Beach Resort near the university on the 12th of June.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Education, management of the university body had been directed by the minister to collaborate with the Ghana Police Service to unravel the real truth about Innocentia’s death and also to let any perpetrator quote may have a hand in her death accountable under the law.

The minister extended his heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and the university community, urging everyone to remain calm. He reaffirmed the government’s dedication to ensuring that those responsible for this atrocious crime are brought to justice.
