According to the Central Regional Police Command, a 17-year-old final-year student at Mfantsipim School (BOTWE) in Cape Coast identified as Emmanuel Arthur has regrettably been confirmed dead, in what police believe to be a suicide case.

Arthur’s lifeless body was discovered in an uncompleted structure at Ola North, a suburb of Cape Coast, following a complaint from a carpenter working at the same site where the incident happened.

Authorities stated that they went to the said location on June 11th to find the lifeless body of the student.

A thorough search of the area resulted in the discovery of a black backpack filled with examination materials, notably a Geography mock Paper 1 that had his name on it. Investigators uncovered two mobile phones—one an Android device and the other a basic “yam” phone—alongside various personal belongings.

School authorities at Mfantsipim SHS have confirmed that the individual who passed away was, in fact, a final-year student.

The family were notified, and the remains released to them after identifying the body of their beloved at the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital.

The location where the body was discovered underwent thorough disinfection.

Authorities indicated that preliminary evidence suggests suicide, while the specific details surrounding the incident remain under investigation.
