Minority leader, Afenyo-Markin, has recounted reasons behind his assault on a police officer during the ”Save The Judiciary” protest which took place yesterday.

The lawmaker disclosed that he was struck on his left chest by police Constable Forson with the full force of his right palm resulting in him nearly falling. He stated that he lost his breath for a while after the attack on him and was assisted by his executives who stayed with him until he regained strength.

The incident according to the legislator occurred as he led protesters to Parliament to present a petition to the leadership of the House.

Afenyo-Markin claimed that he returned the favor by challenging the law enforcement officer’s attack on him and also asked why Constable Forson wanted to harm him.

Acknowledging the professionalism of other officers who were at the scene, the MP noted that he was shocked by how Constable Forson disrespected his superiors who confronted him after the incident.

Afenyo-Markin firther explained that despite numerous warnings from Constable Forson’s superiors, he refused to budge, indicating he was carrying out his duty.

He therefore rebuked headlines making rounds on social media emphasizing that they do not accurately represent what actually happened.
