A school girl including two others have been killed during exchanges of bullets in the ongoing Bawku conflict.
The death toll has reached 32. The unfortunate incident occurred on Friday November 29th, 2024 in the wake of the ongoing conflict.
According to sources, an individual was killed two days ago before the latest fatalities involving a school girl.
Gingande-Zongo area is now the battle ground for the two rival groups. Several homes are reported to have been set on fire.
The shooting started at midnight and continued into the afternoon around 1pm. Several people have also sustained gunshot wounds while others are in critical condition.
Residents and security forces are struggling to contain the situation, as rival groups clash, and ambushes targeting travellers have added to the tension.
The conflict’s resurgence follows the return of rival chief Alhaji Seidu Abagre from exile, with some sources claiming that his return has fueled the renewed hostilities.
