On Monday, December 2, the special voting for the general elections of 2024 will take place. Voting will begin at 7 a.m. and end at 5 p.m.
Special voting is meant for security personnel, the media and the Electoral Commission officials assigned duties on election date. Individuals must submit their application to the Commission to be eligible to cast their votes on the Special Voting Day – 2nd December.
328 designated centers across the country are available for this year’s special voting and 131,478 voters are eligible to cast their ballots.
An absentee on the Special Voting day will not be able to cast their vote on 7th December since the name of such individual will be on Absent Voters List at the Polling Station they are mandated to vote.
The ballot boxes shall be sealed and left in the care of the police within the constituency.
Ballot Papers shall not be counted on Special Voting Day. Officers incharge to ensure Presiding Officers adhere to this order are Returning Officers.
Special Voting Ballots shall only be counted at the Constituency Collation Centers after the close of the December 7 general elections.
The Special Voting shall be recorded separately on both the Presidential and Parliamentary Election Results Collation Forms. The Returning Officer at the Constituency Collation Center is to undertake this assignment.
Finally, the Special Voting Results will be added to all the results from the polling stations. This is done before the Constituency results are announced.
