Gospel musician Florence Obinim has disclosed in a recent interview that her husband, Bishop Daniel Obinim, prevented her from releasing a powerful song she wrote for President John Dramani Mahama during the election campaign period.
According to the wife of the renowned preacher, she was contacted by a senior member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to compose a song for His Excellency who was then campaigning to win the 2024 polls.
Mrs. Obinim indicated that the individual who requested the song expressed admiration for her ability to write her own music and commended her for consistently producing songs that resonate deeply with listeners.
She stated that writing the song took her three days after praying for God to give her insight to come up with something beautiful and her prayers were answered.
“It took me three days to write the song after praying over it and on the third day, God revealed to me the kind of song I should write for Mahama. That was when I realised, God loves President Mahama”, she said.
After composing the song and dedicating time to its recording, she informed her husband, Bishop Obinim, about the entire process. Following this discussion, he requested that she play the song for him and subsequently instructed her not to release it.
Due to the love and respect she has for her husband, she did not release the song although she told members of the Accra branch to play the song during fellowship.
“I composed a campaign song for President Mahama after a senior member of the NDC requested it, but I was unable to release it because my husband told me not to.”
