Former Member of Parliament for Asante Akyim North and a leading member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Hon Andy Appiah Kubi, has questioned the reason behind the NPP’s recent Thank You Tour

Former Member of Parliament for Asante Akyim North and a leading member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Hon Andy Appiah Kubi, has questioned the rationale behind the NPP’s recent Thank You Tour.

The former legislator was of the view that the NPP as a party should first apologise to the good people of Ghana for plunging the country into abyss.

Andy Appiah Kubi in an interview on UTV’s Adekye Nsroma on May 7, 2025 that the Akufo-Addo led administration underperformed resulting in Ghana’s economic woes.

He then apologised to his constituents on the show.

“Even when you wrong God, He requires your repentance before acceptance and so I want to take this opportunity to apologise to my constituents to forgive me for any wrongdoing be of my actions or words”.

The New Patriotic Party’s Thank You Tour being championed by its 2024  presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, is purposely meant to thank party footsoldiers and executives for their yomans job  in the December polls and also Ghanaians for their support and prayers.

Fracas Between Kennedy Agyapong And Abronye

The Tour was marred after a clashed between Kennedy Agyapong and Kwame Baffoe popularly knonw as Abronye nearly brought the program to a halt during the Party’s visit to the Bono Region to appreciate party folks and Ghanaians

The two party faithful engage in unhealthy exchanges.

Kwame Baffoe noted that although he wanted Bawumia to win the primaries, he did not openly campaign for the vice president.

Kennedy Agyapong who was annoyed with Abronye’s comment, expressed disappointment in some party executives who he supported in their early years in the party but turned their backs on him when he needed their support.

When asked about his view on the recent utterances between former Assin Central MP, Kennedy Agyapong and Bono Regional Chairman of the NPP, Kwame Baffoe, he observed that both factions are not setting a good precedent for the younger generation of the party to emulate.

To him, the two leading members of the party are not setting a good example for the younger ones to learn from.

He however cautioned Kennedy Agyapong to exercise restraint in his comments as it can go a long way to hurt his presidential ambitions.

“I understand Ken because betrayal is painful. But engaging in insults does not make you a complete human being “, he said.
