Isaac Alex Awuah, a final year student of St. Joseph Technical Institute (JOTECH) located in the Kwahu South District of the Eastern Region of Ghana, has met his untimely death after he was stabbed in the neck by a fellow student during a confrontation.

The two best friends are both final year students. According to credible sources, the unfortunate event took place on July 17.

What brought about the fight which ended on a sad note stemmed from a misunderstanding that escalated into physical confrontation.

The suspect, Stephen Opuni popularly known as Sugar, according to information gathered so far was a boarding student who got debordinized due to his uncultured behavior.

Awuah thought it wise to accommodate Opuni in his rented apartment and they soon became good friends. The deceased accommodated Opuni for close to 3 years.

Opuni, an 18-year-old, had a smoking habit that Awuah disapproved of; hence, the deceased repeatedly urged the suspect to abandon this behavior, but his counsel was continually ignored. The family of Opuni acknowledges his drug addiction and has made considerable efforts, although he remains obstinate.

On that fateful day, they were both engaged in their usual exchanges when sugar out of nowhere took a knife and twisted Awuah’s hand behind his back and stabbed him in the neck and fled the scene after sensing danger.

A neighbor who observed the tragic event expedited Awuah to a nearby clinic in Kwahu Tafo. They were subsequently referred to the Atibie Government Hospital for additional treatment.

However, the hospital reportedly requested a police medical form prior to commencing treatment, a delay that may have led to Awuah’s premature demise.

Sugar has since been arrested by the police assisting in investigations.
