The Office of the Special Prosecutor has released a statement announcing the initiation of an investigation into the alleged diversion of 50 containers of palm oil, a situation that has resulted in a loss of GHS10.5 million for the country.

Reports indicate that the palm oil was valued at GhS25.8 million. However, the consignment, originally intended for Burkina Faso, was redirected to the local market to avoid the necessary tax and duty fees.

According to ongoing investigations, some officers at customs, national security and clearing agents have been fingered in the scandal.

“The Office has identified the involvement of some Customs officers, National Security operatives and clearing agents in a corrupt scheme that resulted in an estimated loss of GHS10.5 million in taxes,” the statement added”.

The Office noted that investigations into the matter commenced in November 2025.
