The Nkwanta District Police Command has initiated an investigation into the homicide of a 36-year-old Thomas Adon who was murdered in Keri, located within the Nkwanta South Municipality of the Oti Region.
Statement fr9m the police revealed that a Joint Police-Military Team was sent to the location after receiving reports of a shooting incident resulting in Thomas’ death.
Upon arrival, security personnel discovered the body of the deceased positioned in a pool of blood, exhibiting multiple suspected gunshot wounds.
Authorities reported that an examination of the crime scene resulted in the retrieval of a wooden fragment, fifteen discharged cartridges, and five live BB and AA cartridges, all of which have been preserved as evidence to support ongoing investigations.
The remains of the deceased have been sent to the St. Joseph’s Hospital Mortuary in Nkwanta for preservation and subsequent post-mortem examination.
The Police have stated that investigations are currently in progress to identify and apprehend those responsible for the killing.
In an attempt to keep the peace in the region, the Joint Security Team reached out to elders, traditional leaders, and relatives of the victims to express condolences and assure them that an impartial, professional, and comprehensive investigation into the event would be conducted.
Everyone in the neighborhood was asked to keep their cool, work with authorities, and refrain from conducts that may trigger an impasse.
The Nkwanta Joint Security Team reiterated its dedication to ensuring that those accountable are held to justice and urged the public to provide any reliable information that may aid in the current investigations.
